Overview

Mecmesin’s Page Pull Tester, formerly called the Smithers Pira Booktester, helps assess the page-adhesion quality of what are calledperfect-bound magazines and books.

This specialized product is user-friendly and quick and does not need a mains power supply or compressed air, which means it can be utilized anywhere.

Page Pull Strength Test

The binding endurance test establishes the force needed to pull a page from a book spine. The adhesive joint strength is estimated in N/cm by splitting the peak force needed to remove the page based on the height of the page.

The test is relevant to books bound with adhesives like hotmelts and emulsions, for example, polyvinyl acetate (PVA), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)and polyurethane (PUR).

Without a standard method of measurement, it is difficult to fix a performance specification for page pull strength.
